Located in rural Northumberland upon the grounds of Middleton Hall the site was previously occupied by an Oak framed boat house, raised above the water level to allow the storage of boats below the accommodation area. The boathouse was located above a Victorian brick built culvert, which acted as the underground course of the river, which fed the lake.
The original Boat House and surrounding forest was destroyed during a fire in early 2008. A proposal to rebuild the Boat House on the site of the previously utilising traditional build techniques was granted by the Local Authority. We project managed the design phase on behalf of the Client. Ensuring the Architect, Structural Engineer and Oak frame manufacturer worked collectively to produce a cost-effective replacement,we upgraded the design of the boathouse to increase the footprint of the property and also the standard of living.
Grey Street Hotel
An extensive £1.2 Million re-development programme at Grey Street Hotel – one of Newcastle’s leading city centre hotels, was transformed by the Kapex Construction team.
Covering 49 bedrooms, spa, business and leisure facilities,this Grade II listed building is now recognised s one of the most elegant hotels in the city, combining its unique tributes to the City’s heritage in contemporary luxury style.
Positioned in one of the most sought-after areas in Newcastle, Kapex Construction worked with the owners to develop a residential property that stood out in the exclusive areas of Darras Hall.
The Kapex Construction team managed the complete build and were able to deliver an exceptional finish, on time and within budget.
Located in rural Northumberland, Middleton Hall, a grade II listed building was constructed to a Gothic design during the Victorian era. The Original twenty-one bedroom property had been converted in to five separate accommodation units during the 1960’s. Four of the five units had been unoccupied for almost twenty years prior to the current owner purchasing the property in 2008.
The work was carried out over a twelve-month period alongside further projects within the grounds, the standard of finish and quality of the products was the very best. The Hall and the surrounding Holiday Rentals achieved a five start rating. Throughout the project we worked closely with the local Council Building Inspectors, English heritage and conversation specialist to ensure the finished project was in keeping with the original design and feel of the property.
Eagle Star House
Kapex Construction are leading the team on a ten million pound redevelopment of a landmark Newcastle office building in Gosforth.
Work has begun on the 9 story building to house 54 residential apartments, with further plans to build additional apartments and duplex penthouses.
Kapex Construction have been appointed as Principal Contractor to deliver a 5-house residential development scheme on a brownfield site in Heddon on the Wall.
We have worked closely with the developers to ensure the specifications remain at the right level to ensure sales are not impacted but the build cost remains within their budget.
Three Mile Inn
Located in Gosforth, Newcastle Upon Tyne, the client proposed to refurbish an existing bar and restaurant and incorporate an extension for a 64-bed hotel, with conference and event facilities.
The project was procured as a Design and Build Contract, Kapex where retained to detail the proposed design in line with the client’s requirements and to procure and deliver the first stage of the project.
Located in rural Northumberland within the grounds of Middleton Hall the site was occupied by a Victoria stone cottage. The cottage was on an uninhabitable condition and was no longer large enough to meet the requirements of the client as a holiday let for the public.
The proposal for the cottage was to completely refurbish the existing property, hacking of all render, plasters, roof coverings and floor coverings. Repairing all damaged and rotten structural timbers to the roofs and internal walls. The floor levels where reduced and anew sub base was installed to accommodate a new under floor heating system throughout he property. The layout of the internal rooms was also adapted and new plumbing and electrical systems where installed.
The property was purchased by the current owner and a full remodel and refurbishment was commissioned, Kapex Construction where retained in the role of Management Contractors and we worked very closely with the client to ensure a coordinated design and delivery of the works where achieved.
Beech Tree Care Home
Located in Alnwick Northumberland, the client proposed to build and operate a specialist dementia care home on the site of an old bus depot. Kapex Construction where retained as principal contractors to deliver stage one of a two stage tender process. Kapex Construction where retained to deliver the substructure, structure and shell of the care home which was then fit out by the clients in house team.
Located in the centre of Durham Albert House is a listed four storey building which over the years has had many uses but most recently was used by the post office for offices and training rooms.
Belle Vue Care Home
Bell Vue Care Home was built in the year 2000, minor refurbishment had taken pace over these years however an emergency occurred in early 2017 when the existing hot water system catastrophically leaked throughout the ground floor of the occupied care home.
