Kapex Construction have started work on a ten million pound development that is set to turn a landmark Newcastle office building into dozens of new residential apartments – and are hoping to send it higher in the North East sky.

The former North East home of the DVLA has been left empty for a number of years but Kapex Construction have finally been given the green lights to convert the nine-storey building into 54 residential units, including studio flats and one and two-bedroom apartments.

More than 50 people are expected to be employed on the project, with Kapex Construction committing to using a range of local contractors and consultants alongside its own expert personnel.
