Established in 2016 by Gary & Brian Morton, Kapex Construction is a North East based Principle Contractor delivering an innovative approach within the industry.

Our management team has 150+ years of construction industry experience and is fully committed to the company ethos which is built on a commitment of continued learning and understanding. We strive to find fresh solutions to old problems and we are not constrained by traditional approaches and methods.

Now we have laid the foundations for future growth, the management team will encourage all new and existing team members to follow the same principles. With the right team in place and a strong network of quality suppliers we believe we can offer the highest quality workmanship, on time and at a price that suits our client.

Gary Morton
Gary MortonMANAGING DIRECTOR
Gary is leading the Morton Group of companies including Kapex, with his entrepreneurial flair, attention to detail and over 20 years’ experience in the construction industry.

A background in successfully managing projects ranging in value £0.5m to £600m, Gary now takes responsibility for costs, quality and delivery of the overall technical program as well as managing individual projects when required.

Brian Morton
Brian MortonDIRECTOR
Brian has contributed to the construction industry in the North East for over 40 years and brings his invaluable experience to the Kapex team leading the core business team to deliver the business budget and maintain value to clients.

A meticulous and dedicated professional, Brian’s has experience in most sectors, although predominantly: Commercial, Leisure, Education, Healthcare and Retail

Shaun Humphreys
Shaun HumphreysOPERATIONS DIRECTOR
Shaun uses his extensive project management experience gained from a diverse career in construction to benefit Kapex and their clients.

His well-respected interpersonal skills, extensive network and experience managing traditional, design and build and PFI schemes ensure unsurpassed project delivery and client service.

Chris Nunn
Chris NunnBUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
Chris is a well-known figure in the North East construction industry with over 18 years’ experience working for contractors and developers in delivering a number of successful residential developments and construction projects across the North of England and Scotland.

Chris joined the team in July 2018 and is responsible for sourcing development and tender opportunities in line with the company’s ambitious 5-10 year growth plan.

Ian Conn
Ian ConnSENIOR PROJECT MANAGER
With over 35 years’ in the industry, Ian brings extensive project management and budgetary control experience across many sectors including: Pharmaceutical, Semiconductor, Leisure, Education and Healthcare.

His expertise managing a range of building and M&E / HVAC works brings an invaluable skill set to the Kapex team.

Paul Armstrong
Paul ArmstrongSITE MANAGER
With over 16 years’ experience in the construction industry, Paul began his career right out of school and has worked with the directors on numerous projects since 2004.

He most recently successfully managed the £1.2 million renovation of Grey Street Hotel in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Paul holds various certification including Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) Qualification.

From shop refurbishments to showrooms, retail parks and new developments, we provide a hands-on approach.

When developing a retail environment there are a variety of needs to be met, from local planners and communities to the needs of retailers and other partners involved. We understand the challenges involved in each project, from resolving pre-lets, vacant possession, adjoining owner agreements, transport solutions and time and cost certainties. These areas are always considered to ensure the result is a pleasant environment for shoppers, delivered to the highest specifications.

Residential

Our work on new builds, refurbishments and building alterations always meet the highest of standards.

We believe tight project management is especially important when it comes to residential projects, with customers waiting to move into their new homes. During construction we ensure that the site is as presentable as possible, helping to attract buyers. We pay attention to the smallest detail and maintain rigorous standards of craftsmanship.

Public

We understand and enjoy the challenges involved in developing public spaces. From defence accommodation to runways, from hospitals to urban regeneration developments, centres of education and healthcare buildings, Kapex work collaboratively to deliver projects efficiently and on schedule.
